ALPENA TOWNSHIP — A motorcyclist was sent to the hospital after he was struck by a car at the intersection of Golf Course Road and U.S.-23 North this afternoon.

The motorcyclist, who was coherent when responders arrived on the scene, was traveling south on U.S.-23 when the driver of a four-door vehicle, traveling north on the same road, turned into his path onto Golf Course Road.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

The driver of the car was checked by paramedics but not taken to the hospital.

Names were not released by officials.
