RC City Hall struck by truck

ROGERS CITY — Rogers City’s City Council chambers are in need of repairs after a truck crashed into City Hall around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, before the city’s Harbor Advisory Committee was to begin. Mayor Scott McLennan said the truck driver, who worked for a private contractor for the post office, was new and didn’t know how to operate the vehicle’s air brakes.

McLennan said the driver took the parking break off while he was on the slope of the delivery ramp. He said the truck, which was backed up to the post office, didn’t have enough pressure built up in its brakes, yet, so the truck just started to roll and crashed into City Hall.

McLennan did not know the total cost of the damage. He said the city has filed a claim with its insurance company.

Rogers City officials are looking to have the council chambers fixed on or before Nov. 14.
