Chowder and Chili Cookoff

Terry Zuchowski, of The Mountain Inn Bar and Grill in Black River, and his assistant dish up lobster and snow crab chowder for a taster at Saturday’s Chowder and Chili Cookoff in downtown Alpena. Zuchowski won last year’s cookoff, an annual event sponsored by the Alpena Downtown Development Authority, with his Fisherman’s Wharf Chowder. Contestants held onto awnings and secured tablecloths with bandages as a hefty wind made the warm soups extra welcome.
