The Alpena Police Department will be providing local residents with free gun locks at the Public Safety Building on Chisholm Street. Gun locks will be provided in the lobby area during business hours.

The department encourages everyone who owns a firearm to store it safely when not in use and make it inaccessible to children or other unauthorized persons.

A firearms safety brochure is included with every gun lock, and it explains the importance of safe handling and secure firearm storage.
