Grace Episcopal chicken dinner Sat.

Grace Episcopal Church’s will host a chicken dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Long Rapids Hall. The menu includes chicken, sauerkraut and kielbasa, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, baked beans, corn, glazed carrots, relish tray, coleslaw, rolls and homemade pies. The cost is $14 per adult and $7 per child ages 10 and younger.

The church is planning the following upcoming monthly meals as well:

Ice cream socials will be on June 24, July 29, and Aug. 26, with grilled hot dogs, sandwiches on homemade breads, assorted salads, and homemade pies, from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is donation for those events.

Then on Sept. 11 is a harvest supper from 3 to 6 p.m., with ham, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, squash, corn, rolls and homemade pies, at Grace Church on Long Rapids Road. The cost will be $14 per adult and $7 per child, 10 and younger.

Soup and sandwich suppers will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 28 and Nov. 18, featuring five different homemade soups, sandwiches on homemade breads, and homemade pies. Cost is donation.

Black Ash basket making on May 21

Conservation Camp Crafters present Black Ash Basket Making with Kris and Ron Sorgenfrei, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 21. This unique experience will be held at Ocqueoc Outdoor Center, 7142 Ocqueoc Lake Road.

Build your own traditions with a self-made market basket from the rare material of the Black Ash, which has become scarce because of the Emerald Ash Borer.

A $100 class fee includes all materials, tools and instruction. All skill levels are welcome. For registration, information and directions call or text Mary Ann at 989-351-9700. This class is sponsored by the Friends of the Ocqueoc Outdoor Center.

Bridge results noted

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners this week were Deanna Brege and Gayle Nowak in first place, Linda Clegg and Audrey Stevens in second, and Beverley Rousseau and Marcy Sherman in third. The group meets at 12:30 p.m. Mondays. Call 989-354-2306 or 989-595-5119.
