Clayton and Burns donated handmade blankets to DHHS to give to children who are placed into foster care. The project earned the two girls Silver Awards, which is the highest award a middle-aged Girl Scout can earn.

HILLMAN — Girl Scout cadets Helana Burns and Zoey Clayton of Hillman Troop #4810 completed their Silver Award and presented 49 handmade blankets to the Department of Health and Human Services on April 15.

The Silver Award is the highest award that can be earned for middle school aged Girl Scouts.

These blankets will be given to children in Alpena and Montmorency counties when they are placed into foster care. They were created to provide comfort and support to children during this turbulent time in their lives. The girls spent more than 50 hours each on this project.
