Hillman VFW holds January meeting

Hillman VFW Post 2356 met at 6 p.m. on Jan. 6 for its regular meeting, with seven members present.

The Friday night fish fry has been open since July 9, and doing well. Everyone is invited to come enjoy a fish dinner or to-go order.

The 77th Annual V-J Day will be celebrated on Aug. 13, 2022. Fireworks donation jars will be out next month to continue offering a nice fireworks display, to be held at dusk on Aug. 13.

Montmorency County now has an effective Veterans Affairs rep. Reach Michael Burzynski at 989-785-8043.

The Post sells polyester 3-foot by 5-foot American flags for $25, made in the U.S.

A lot of clubs are having trouble getting members, and some VFW Posts are closing. Any qualified veterans looking for a home are encouraged to call the Post.

Medical supplies are available for loan. Call Marv at 989-255-2072 or Wayne at 989-255-4412. Anyone with medical items no longer needed, please call so they can continually upgrade.

The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3.

Bridge results noted

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners this week were Gordon Bennett and Marge French in first place, Bev Rousseau and Marcy Sherman in second place, and Marilyn Sharp and

Knitting/crocheting group at Posen Library

Presque Isle District Library’s new Posen branch is offering knitting and crocheting from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. All levels are welcome. If you have questions, call 989-734-2477.

Ossineke Eagles offer happy meals Tue/Thurs

The Ossineke Eagles are offering happy meals from 5 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, featuring a hamburger and fries, and your choice of soft drink, for $6.50 per meal. The Eagles are located at 6848 U.S.-23 South in Spruce.
