A CFNEM Community Impact Grant provided funding for a parking lot at the Emily Min Hunt Preserve, which is open to the public.
From Huron Pines: “At a winter snowshoe hike, we hosted members of Alpena’s Lifelong Learners. A member of this group was astonished that this property was here and available, having lived in the Alpena area for 40+ years. ‘I can’t wait to come back and bring my husband and grandkids!’ she exclaimed at the end of our 45-minute hike. Offering parking areas and well-marked entrances and boundaries is the easiest and most cost-effective way to encourage self-led adventure.” The preserve is located north of Alpena on Shubert Hwy.
