Male’s Grocery Store announces the grand re-opening, open house, and artisans market on Sunday starting at noon. The store is located at 6811 Long Rapids Road, at the corner of Bolton and Long Rapids roads.
Over 20 artisans will be on the lawn near the grocery store selling local farm-fresh food, crafts and wares. Large prizes will be given away drawn from free raffle tickets, and there will be a snow cone machine, cornhole, popcorn, Plinko with giveaways, and more.
Male’s Grocery, which was closed for several years, is being opened under the fifth-generation owner and veteran Jane Male.
“The store, which has many pieces of restored furniture from the original store, opened in 1906 has kept its look from that era for a unique experience for customers,” said Male.
The store is convenient for people that need to fuel up their cars, boats, or even access recreational gasoline.
“If you are kayaking on the river, it is also the perfect place to stop, rest and hydrate or grab a snack,” said Male.
The original counter will be in use, and kids can come in to pick out penny candy. The location is ideal for those traveling out to Lachine or Posen. Tobacco products and alcohol are also available for purchase.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to stop out this Sunday to listen to live music, purchase produce and crafts, have a chance to win prizes, or enjoy a free snow cone. Store hours for Sunday’s grand opening are noon to 9 p.m., marketplace is from noon to 4 p.m., and live music starts at 2 p.m.
Social distancing precautions will be in effect, and please bring a mask to enter the store. Find more information on the store’s Facebook page.
