Jamaican Bygden

ALPENA — Northland Area Federal Credit Union recently announced the winner of its third annual Jerry Erickson Community Service Award as Jamaican Bygden.

Recipients of this honor show a strong commitment to credit union community involvement, education, and the people-helping-people philosophy.

Bygden was chosen because of her willingness to volunteer in participating in numerous community and Northland educational events. Many of the events at which she volunteered occurred on weekends or after work hours.

The late Jerry Erickson, for whom this award was named, was an Air Force Veteran who served as a volunteer for Northland Area Federal Credit Union for over 50 years. Erickson was a strong advocate for education and the credit union movement.
