Artwork by professional artist Erwin P. Lewandowski has been selected for the 15th Annual International Guild of Realism Exhibition in Charleston, South Carolina.

His entry, Falling Water VIII, is a colored pencil drawing of water slowly moving through a colorful bed of landscape rocks. The exhibition is scheduled for October and will feature artwork by artists from 20 countries at the Principle Gallery in Charleston.

“To compete and be accepted into this exhibition is quite an honor,” Lewandowski said. “This international exhibit continues to be one of the top venues in the world for realism painters. A two-juried system makes this a unique and challenging competition; especially for an artist working with colored pencils, since the majority of submissions are by oil and acrylic painters.”

He noted the changes artists have seen since the pandemic began.

“This venue also marks a new chapter in my life as a working artist,” he said. “Like many career artists, our worlds have been dramatically impacted by social and economic conditions. In my case it was heartbreaking to see gallery agents closing their businesses, learning that a long-awaited group show had been canceled (and rescheduled to 2021), and having to cancel all of my workshops in April, May and June.

“Even though conditions remain uncertain, I remain optimistic about my role as a fine artist and sincerely hope that fellow artists working in all of the fine arts will be able to weather this difficult time in their lives.”

Lewandowski is slated to present a three-day workshop assignment this fall in Dallas, Texas. This past spring the owner of the Mary Williams Fine Art Gallery in Boulder, Colorado, agreed to represent the artist in the Mountain Region of the country. Lastly, Peak Media, publishers of Artist Magazine, will be featuring an article about the artist and his studio in their October 2020 issue.

The artist and his wife, Mary, reside along the shoreline of Lake Huron in Alpena. To learn more about Lewandowski and his artwork, go to his website at www.erwinplewandowski.com.
