Halloween festivities coming up this week

A variety of Halloween-themed activities are happening this week.

¯ Tuesday from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. — A free Pumpkin Painting Party is at the Rogers City branch of Presque Isle District Library in the Constance Jordan Room. Bring a pumpkin to paint at this party for all ages.

¯ Thursday at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) — Next in the Sanctuary Lecture Series is “True Lighthouse Hauntings,” narrated by maritime author Frederick Stonehouse. The film explores Great Lakes lighthouse hauntings at Whitefish Point, Big Bay Point, Old Presque Isle and Seul Choix Point at Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center.

¯ Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. — Trick or Treating is downtown, and from 5 to 8 p.m. at Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center. From 5:30 to 7 p.m., stop by Trunk or Treat in the parking lot behind City Hall, hosted by the Michigan State Police and WATZ Radio. Please call 989-354-4101 if you are interested in setting up a trunk.

¯ Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon — Alpena County Library hosts Halloween Craft Day for children preschool through fifth grade. Come for crafts, treats, face painting and fun.

¯ Saturday at 6 p.m. — The Fresh Palate is hosting the 6th Annual Zombie Crawl featuring a wagon ride, scavenger hunt, games and prizes. Visit The Fresh Palate on Facebook for details.
