She is the featured artist for September and October at Thunder Bay Arts Gallery.

Morrell is a member of Art in the Loft of Alpena, and the Artists of Yardley in Yardley, Penn.

Her work is a visual expression of the joy she experiences in the process of painting. The evolution of her process is a result of the inspiration that comes when traditional painting methods are combined with today’s technology as she uses her digital camera and iPad Pro to connect her work with a global community through the internet.

Morrell creates paintings of all sizes, working interchangeably with brush and palette knife. Her inspiration comes from plein air sketches or images captured with her camera of poignant moments that cannot be created in a studio setting, but must be observed through a lens with a watchful eye.

Her style as a contemporary impressionist expresses energy and atmosphere. Her heart is drawn to subject matter of scenes from the places she loves on the lake and in nature.

Most days, Morrell can be found painting in her cottage studio on Hubbard Lake.
