LWV Lunch Bunch Friday

The League of Women Voters invites anyone interested to Lunch Bunch Friday, with an informal discussion of current issues and topics of interest.

A discussion of the book, “The Moment of Lift,” by Melinda Gates, will be at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at noon at The Nucleus Lounge in the Center Building. It is not necessary to have read the book to attend the discussion, and reservations are not needed.

PI MARSP to meet Monday

The Presque Isle County Chapter of MARSP will hold a meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at Scill’s Grill in Rogers City. Cost for the meal is $15 per person.

The elementary principals from Posen, Rogers City and Onaway will speak following the luncheon.They will discuss happenings within their elementary schools.

Hospital retirees to meet

MidMichigan Medical Center (ARMC) laboratory retirees will have their monthly luncheon at noon on Thursday, Aug. 22, at Parker House on U.S.-23 North.

CCHS Class of ’57 reunion set

Catholic Central High School Class of 1957 will be having a luncheon reunion on Monday, Aug. 28. The reunion will be held at the 19th Hole starting at noon, with lunch around 1 p.m. If you will be attending, call Dan Betoski at 989-727-3717.

Aid by the Dozen met

Aid by the Dozen met for dinner at the 19th Hole on Aug. 5, hosted by Joyce Murphy.

The members chose the Children’s Closet for the monthly donation. Cards were sent and thank-you notes read. Carol Kelly won the hostess gift. Secret pal gifts were received by Leora Jacobs (special day), Maxine Gagnon (birthday), Lori Zeller (anniversary), and Marlene Monti (happy summer). Also receiving gifts were Mariette Jore and Kay Ross.

The evening concluded with candy treats provided by Joyce. Darlene Robarge will host the September meeting, which will be a white elephant sale.

Bridge winners announced

Alpena Duplicate Bridge Club winners this week were Deanna Brege and Gayle Nowak in first, Marge French and Linda Clegg in second, and Loretta Reynolds and Jackie Kennedy in third.

The group meets at 12:45 p.m. on Mondays at First United Methodist Church in Alpena.
