On June 13, Dorothy Swafford of Chief Shawano Chapter NSDAR visited Besser Elementary School to present certificates and prizes to fifth-grader Sarah Brown at the third through fifth grade award day presentations. Swafford stated that Chief Shawana was very proud of Sarah’s historic tour of the Woman’s Suffrage Campaign. She said this was the second year that a Besser fifth-grader had been selected as Chief Shawano’s 5th Grade Chapter winner.

Swafford thanked Stephanie Hitchcock, principal of Besser Elementary, and Sarah’s teacher for their help in making her entry possible. She finished by reminding students to look for the 2019-2020 American History Writing Contest information in the local paper, library and posted at school starting in late August.
