New teen programs at Alpena library

The Teen Advisory Board at the Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library has been very busy planning new activities and programs for library patrons ages 12 to 18. They are excited to share two new recurring programs — Homework Friends and Board Game Club.

The first, Homework Friends, is scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. during the school year. The Teen Zone in the Library becomes a quiet space for students to work on homework, study, and potentially get help from peer tutors. Students interested in volunteering to be peer tutors can contact the library.

The second new program will kick off during Winter Break. On Friday, Dec. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m., Board Game Club begins. Thanks to a generous gift from the Friends of the Alpena Library, a variety of new and classic board games have been purchased for these drop-in afternoons. Board Game Club will be held twice a month on the first Thursday of the month from 4 to 6 p.m. and the third Saturday of the month from 2 to 4 p.m.

For more information, visit the library’s website at www.alpenalibrary.org, search for the library on Facebook, or call 989-356-6188, ext. 25.
