Gary Glen Grocholski, 59, passed away on April 15, 2023. Gary was born on March 15, 1964 in Alpena, Michigan. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Eveline (Krajniak) Grocholski, infant brother Gregory and sister, Cindy. He was survived by brother Ken Grocholski of Durham North Carolina, brother Tim (Jane) Grocholski of DePere, Wisconsin, sister Karen Grocholski of Alpena, one nephew and four nieces. Barbara Jean Mouthaan, 87, of Hubbard Lake passed away April 20, 2023, at home. Barbara Jean Lauwers was born in Detroit, Michigan on Dec. 16, 1935, to the late Victor and Mary (Lybeer) Lauwers. On March 5, 1981, she married Joe Mouthaan. Barb retired from the Detroit Lions organization in 2000, having worked for them for 25 years. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Hubbard Lake Red Hat Society, Chooties Auxiliary #96 (VFW) Trustee-Alpena, and enjoyed baking and cooking. Darlene Emily Woodward, age 86, of Marquette, Michigan (originally of Alpena, Michigan) passed on to be with the Lord April 17, 2023, at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee, Michigan. Darlene was born at home in Ravenna, Ohio on Nov. 14, 1936. She was the daughter of the late William D. and Helen L. (Curtis) Reynolds. Darlene lived in Ravenna until about the age of 5, when she relocated with her parents to Alpena. It was there she later met the love of her life Frank E. Lori Ann Ludwig, 68, of Alpena passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, after a brief illness. Lori was born on March 30, 1955, to the late Floyd and Caroline (Weine) Ludwig. She graduated from Alpena High School in 1973 and from Central Michigan University in 1977. She worked at K-Mart for 30 years and retired in 2015 as a dental receptionist. Lori was a life-long devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena where she taught Sunday School for 30 years. She was also active in many church work groups. ​​William (Bill) Ballard Sr., age 75, formerly of Alpena, passed away at his daughter’s home in Onaway on Tuesday April 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol. Surviving are their children; Ann Brown of Onaway, Carol (Dennis) Hoppe of Alpena, Billie Ballard of Tennessee, Barbie Ballard of Dowagiac and William Ballard Jr. of Alpena; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. No services are planned as Bill will be honored by his family privately. Cremation arrangements are in care of Chagnon Funeral Home.
