Marie Esther Lewis, 80, of Lachine passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. Marie Esther Addy was born in Detroit to the late Harvey and Helen (Beaven) Addy on Dec. 1, 1942. She married Richard Lewis on Nov. 17, 1963. He preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2019. She was an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, working Knights of Columbus Bingos and dinners. She enjoyed making and selling jewelry. Shirley Ann MacKenzie, 94, of Alpena passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at home. Shirley Ann Schryer was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Alpena to the late William and Emma (Glenni) Schryer. On April 15, 1950, she married Orville MacKenzie. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2019. Shirley was a lifetime resident of Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School. She worked at State Farm, WBKB TV, and VanWagnen Optometry. Shirley was an active member of All Saints Parish and volunteered for Hospice and the Friendship Room. Darwin Gerald Schultz, 81, of Spruce passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at MediLodge of Alpena. Darwin was born April 17, 1941, in Alpena to the late Carl and Amanda (Sommerfield) Schultz. He married Lucille Mousseau on April 27, 1963. Darwin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln. Delores M. Stevens, 87, of Alpena passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at MediLodge of Alpena. Delores M. Stevens was born in Herron on Feb. 1, 1936, to the late Bethel and De Netta (Schultz) Smith. She married George Stevens on February 1980. He preceded her in death later that year. Delores loved her grandchildren and spending time together. MISIAK, Louis A., 88, of Posen, died on April 21, 2023. He is survived by his children, Donna Repke (Tom Thomas), Randy, Kurt, Gene (Nancy), Tina (Richard) Sharp, and Kathy (William) Behning. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Church on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Art Duchnowicz will reside as a celebrant. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. A full obit will appear in a future edition of The Alpena News. Jean Marie Filarski, 62, passed away on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023 in Coralville, Iowa after an extended illness. She was born on Dec. 23, 1960, to the late Albin and Lorraine (Januchowski) Filarski. She was born and raised in Alpena, Michigan and attended Alpena High School. She moved to Florida in 1984, residing in Fort Lauderdale and Coral Springs area for more than 35 years before moving to Coralville, Iowa in 2020 for health reasons.
