JAMES F. POTTER

James F. Potter, 79, of Harrisville, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, at MediLodge of Alpena. Born May 23, 1944, to Forrest and Bonnie (Dewar) Potter in Harrisville, Michigan, he was raised there. Jim served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962-1966. On August 3, 1968, he married Barbara Oliver in Lincoln. They were longtime residents of Westland. Jim worked in tool and die and retired to Harrisville in 2007. He was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church and of the men’s group, as well as the Harrisville Lions Club. COCHRANE, Halina Mae, 81, of Westland, formerly of Posen, died at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia on June 1, 2023. James (Jim) Adams, 76, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at home with his loved ones by his side after battling Alzheimer’s. Jim was born May 7, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia to the late Jim and Virginia (Swedenburg) Adams. The family moved to the Detroit, Michigan area from Georgia when Jim was a young boy and eventually ended up in Southfield, Michigan where Jim met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Deborah Quirouet. Lawrence Alper Johnson, 85, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. Lawrence was born April 26, 1938, in Alpena to the late Alper and Lois (Schultz) Johnson. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Lafarge in 1999. On March 30, 1969, he married Judy Zitlau. Lawrence was a member of Alpena VFW Post 2496, Post Commander for 3 years 2000-2003, District Commander, and State Drug & Safety Officer. John Herbert Hering, 89, of Hubbard Lake passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, at his home. John Herbert Hering was born in Detroit on Jan. 21, 1934, to the late Herbert and Florence (Howard) Hering. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from ABTCO in 1996. John was an active member of First Assembly of God – Alpena and enjoyed sailing on Hubbard Lake on his sailboat “Amazing Grace”.
