Homant – Bouwhuis

Katie Homant and Anthony Bouwhuis exchanged their wedding vows Aug. 5, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Old Mission Peninsula, Traverse City. Father James Bearss officiated the double-ring ceremony. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Traverse City Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Ed and Deb Homant of Alpena. The groom is the son of Kevin and Karen Bouwhuis of Grand Rapids.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Emily Homant. Bridesmaids were Heather Sobek, sister of the bride, Jessie Crawford, and Christina Bouwhuis, sister of the groom. Flower girls were nieces, Ruby Sobek, Eleanor Schmidt and Isabelle Vandyke. Attending the groom as best man was his brother, Josh Bouwhuis. Groomsmen were Derrick Rogers, Maxwell Prendergast, and Curtis Burns. Ushers were Bobby Schmidt, Jake VanDyke and James Sobek.

Katie is a 2012 graduate of Michigan State University and is employed as a fourth grade teacher at Cherry Street Elementary in Kalkaska. Anthony is a 2013 graduate of Michigan State University and 2016 graduate of Eastern Michigan University. He is an Orthotics and Prosthetics resident with Teter in Traverse City.

The couple enjoyed their honeymoon on a Disney Cruise in the Caribbean.
