HARRISVILLE — No one was injured on Tuesday in a fire that started in the rear of Dockside Cafe in downtown Harrisville.

Harrisville City and Township Fire Department was dispatched to the fire around 7 p.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke showing, according to Fire Chief Danny Klukowski.

Klukowski said firefighters secured the scene, requested mutual aid from neighboring fire departments, made entry and began their initial attack. He said the fire was extinguished within 45 minutes.

Minor smoke and water damage occurred to the building next to the cafe, Klukowski said, noting that the building was vacant downstairs but had apartments upstairs.

He said none of the buildings were occupied at the time of the call.

Klukowski said the cause of the fire is unknown and a follow-up investigation will be conducted by the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office.

Crews from fire departments in Greenbush, Mikado, Lincoln, and Alcona Township also responded to the fire.
