PREP ROUNDUP: Oscoda boys win hoops opener
ROGERS CITY–Drew Hess scored 19 points and the Oscoda boys basketball team got the season off to a winning start on Wednesday with a 50-29 victory over Rogers City.
Gavin Lueck added 10 points for the Owls (1-0), Owen Franklin had nine and Caleb Nagel finished with eight.
Nick Freel paced Rogers City (1-1) with 13 points.
Oscoda plays Midland Calvary Baptist on Friday.

ROGERS CITY–Onaway won a nail-biter on Tuesday, topping Rogers City 28-26 on the road.
“The game was what we expected; a bunch of kids who hadn’t played basketball in a long time along with coaches (getting back into it),” Onaway coach John George said. “We will take the win and be thankful we are playing.”
Nicole Larson paced Onaway (1-0) with nine points and Breya Domke added seven.
