PREP ROUNDUP: Alpena beats Sault Ste. Marie in OT

BOYS BASKETBALL

Alpena 62, Sault Ste. Marie 51, OT

Cooper Bright had 30 points, including 10 straight free throws in overtime to help Alpena (2-4) finish a busy week on a high note. Tied 48-48 at the end of regulation, Alpena took over the game and outscored Sault 14-3. Tucker Bright and Andrew Fisher added 10 points each for Alpena. The Wildcats led 27-22 at halftime and 39-37 after three quarters.

Alpena’s JV team lost 60-40. Alpena’s freshman team won 38-28. Avery Samp had 13 points for Alpena, Carter Stark had six points and Caleb McEwen had five.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Rogers City 45, Onaway 42

Karissa Rabeau scored 18 of her game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter to help the Hurons top their county rivals. Onaway led 38-25 after three quarters, but the Hurons caught fire and outscored the Cardinals 20-4 in the final eight minutes. Breya Domke paced Onaway with 15 points.

Oscoda 70, Durand 47

Macy Kellstrom hit four three-pointers and had 19 points and Mia Whipkey added 16 for the Owls (6-0). Izzy Hulverson added 14 for Oscoda.

WRESTLING

Alpena competes at Ogemaw

Austin Bush and Declan Genova went undefeated as the Wildcats competed in West Branch.

Bush went 3-0 (2 pins and a forfeit); Genova went 3-0 (2 pins and a decision); Mason Bray went 2-1; Jeremiah Bullis and Gunner Spencer went 1-2, and Caleb Bullis 0-3
