PREP ROUNDUP: Tigers, Hurons win openers
HILLMAN–The Hillman football team kicked off its 2020 season in dominating fashion on Friday, beating Au Gres 60-12.
The Wolverines scored the game’s first touchdown, but the Tigers responded with 54 unanswered points to take firm control of the contest.
Sean Henigan led Hillman with 11 carries for 147 yards and three touchdowns. He was also 2-of-3 passing for eight yards and a score.
Owen Moulton had 81 yards on 14 carries for Hillman and London Achatz had 69 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Jeff Klein added a 42-yard touchdown run and Zack Kazyaka had a two-yard touchdown run.
Dawson Afleidingen led Hillman’s defense with 12 tackles and three sacks and contributed on offense as well with a six-yard touchdown catch.
Rogers City 24, Alcona 18
ROGERS CITY–The Alcona football team came up short in its season opener Friday, losing on the road to Rogers City, 24-18.
Chris Barnes (37-yard touchdown catch), Jakob Sytek (76-yard kickoff return), and Gavin Walker (42-yard quarterback keeper) each had a touchdown for the Tigers. Zach Stephenson added 80 yards on 20 carries and had 11 tackles on defense.
Isaac Hein threw touchdown passes of 21 and 12 yards and also ran for a two-yard score.
Alcona hosts Marlette next week.
