Jon Studley named athletic director at Alpena High

Jon Studley

Alpena High School announced Tuesday the hiring of Jon Studley as its new athletic director and testing coordinator.

Studley succeeds Tim Storch, who recently wrapped up his tenure as AD after a little more than six years.

Studley comes to Alpena after four years as the athletic director at West Branch-Rose City Schools. Studley has also served in the same capacity at Tawas and Caro.

“”We are tremendously excited to have Jon join the Wildcat family. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both the athletic and academic world,” Alpena High principal Tom Berriman said. “Jon has been successful at building the athletic department at all of his previous stops. His vision and expertise will shape our athletic program and community for years to come.”

Studley was named the Region 14 Athletic Director of the Year for the Michigan Interscholastic Administrators Association for the 2019-2020 school year.

While AD at West Branch-Rose City, Studley operated the department’s budget, secured more than $100,000 in sponsorships, worked with local booster clubs to provide funding for athletes and provided game management during home games.

He is a 2001 Tawas graduate and a graduate of Central Michigan. He and his wife Shannon have one daughter, Maizy.

“It is an honor to become a part of the Wildcats family. Alpena is an athletic program that is on the rise and I could not be more excited to lead this program,” Studley said. “I am looking forward to working with coaches, administration, staff, community members and our student athletes.”
