Alpena soccer team falls to TC West

TRAVERSE CITY ­– The Alpena boys soccer team was on the receiving end of a 5-1 loss against the No. 4 ranked team in Division 1, Traverse City West on Thursday.

The Titans held a 3-0 lead at the half before Alpena got on the board with its lone goal of the night from Ivo Arvidsson-Ullberg.

West added a pair of goals late to ice the game and secure the win.

“There was some good and bad tonight,” Alpena coach Tim Storch said. “West is ranked fourth in Division 1 for a reason and they showed that tonight. We competed for long stretches and we know we’re not going to see a team like that in the postseason.”

The Wildcats are now 14-4-2 overall on the year and will wrap up the regular season on Monday with a trip back to Traverse City to take on the Central Trojans.


ATLANTA — The Rogers City volleyball team made quick work of Atlanta on Thursday, sweeping the Huskies by scores of 25-4, 25-12 and 25-22.

The Hurons were led by Alayna Sorget, Madeline Hardies and Jeffra Dittmar, while Atlanta got a strong performances out of Marissa Perry and Cherokee Cunningham.
