PREP ROUNDUP: Alcona blanked by Oscoda
OSCODA–The Alcona football team had a rough night on Friday, losing to Oscoda 56-0 in a North Star League contest.
Mason Clark led Alcona’s offense with 78 yards on 22 carries and Michael Basner carried the ball 10 times for 74 yards.
Defensively the Tigers were led by Clark with five tackles.
Alcona (1-2) hosts Ogemaw Heights next week.
GIRLS GOLF
Alpena hosts home meet
The Alpena High girls golf team hosted a home meet at Alpena Golf Club on Friday and finished eighth.
Harbor Springs won the event with a team score of 344. Anci Dy from Traverse City West won the tournament with a score of 68 and the Titans finished second with a team score of 356.
Alpena’s Kennedy Ellis received a medal for 11th place, with a score of 90. As a team, Alpena scored 475.
VOLLEYBALL
Rogers City 3, Alcona 1
LINCOLN–The Rogers City volleyball team evened its North Star League record to 1-1 with a four-set win over Alcona on Thursday.
The Hurons won 25-21, 25-27, 25-23 and 25-15.
Jeffra Dittmar had eight kills, seven aces and 12 digs for the Hurons and Kristin Brege had 31 assists and four aces. Kyrsten Altman had nine kills and five digs,
Makenna Fessler had eight kills and two blocks.
