Cardinals fall in semis of Petoskey Tourney

PETOSKEY–The Onaway volleyball team played well in a tournament in Petoskey on Saturday, finishing 3-2 in a 10-team tournament.

Onaway’s only losses came against Class A schools, including Midland Dow which defeated Onaway in the semifinals 25-17 and 25-11.

“It was a pretty nice tournament for us. After we got past the first match, we felt like we had to win out to advance to bracket play and that’s what the kids did,” Onaway coach Steve Watson said.

Watson was especially impressed by his team’s win over Munising, a team which reached the Class D semifinals last season.

“They’re a pretty good team and we took care of them,” Watson said.
