Huskies defeat Trojans for second straight win

Fife Lake–The Atlanta football team got off to its first 2-0 start since 1992 with a 28-14 victory over Fife Lake Forest Area on Thursday in Fife Lake.

Austin Corbin led the Huskies in passing and Reece Wood led them in rushing, but it was the defensive line that did most of the damage to help get the job done.

“Our entire team played a great game tonight, but particular the guys on the defensive line up front,” Atlanta coach Troy Cheedie said. “All of those guys played their tales off. The turning point in the game was probably in the fourth quarter when we got a stop and went down and scored to turn a one possession game into a two possession game. It had been a one possesion game all night and that kind of turned the tide for us to help us get the win.”

Atlanta plays at Wyoming Tri-unity Christian next Saturday.

Rogers City 14,

Inland Lakes 7

ROGERS CITY–Caleb Bade rushed for a pair of touchdowns and the Rogers City football team earned its first win of the 2017 season on Thursday, beating Indian River Inland Lakes 14-7 at Gilpin Field.

Rogers City (1-1) led 6-0 at halftime and took a 14-0 lead with four seconds left in the third quarter after a one-yard scamper from Bade and a successful conversion.

Inland Lakes answered with a two-yard touchdown run by Ben Schramm with 9:02 left in the game.

Rogers City finally got on the board on a one-yard touchdown run by Bade with 6:58 left in the second quarter.
