Wildcats improve despite loss to Trojans

The Alpena girls tennis team had a rough outing at home against Traverse City Central on Tuesday, losing to the Trojans 8-0.

Despite the loss, Alpena coach Charlie Giordano said there was evidence of improvement.

“The girls did not play scared, they played with their heads high and tried to play their game,” Giordano said.

The No. 2 doubles team of Macy Cosbitt and Jordan Sengenberger put up a good fight against Central, but lost 3-6, 0-6. Alpena’s three doubles team of Angela Salacata and Brynna Smith also played well, but lost 3-6, 0-6.

“Many spectators form our local tennis community were in attendance to support the Lady Wildcats and made mention several times of the marked improvement in all players since their first match of the season,” Giordano said.
