Unseasonably hot temperatures as well as 17 other teams tested the fitness of the Alpena High School women and men’s cross country teams at the 2025 Shepherd Invite on Saturday. Both teams fared better than most by notching fifth place finishes in the highly competitive meet. Izzy Szymanski, Abigail Misiak, Marian Renard, Lila Scott, and Ava Karsten were the scoring five for the girls. Xander Allen, Logan Szumila, Brendan Werth, Hendrix McKay, and Milo Dahleen led the men.
