Alcona volleyball beats Hillman, falls to Oscoda

On Tuesday, the Alcona High School volleyball team lost to Oscoda in three sets, in Oscoda: 18-25, 21-25, 14-25.

Elliyana Grimshaw had eight kills. Everly Gordy had 12 assists and 13 digs.

“We fought, but definitely struggled to play consistently,” said Coach Kristi Miller. “Oscoda did a great job defensively. We need to focus on controlling our passes to get our offense going.”

On Thursday, we beat Hillman in four sets, in Hillman: 25-12, 21-25, 25-18, 25-13.

Everly Gordy had 16 digs and 21 assists. Addi Beatty had six aces, three blocks, and 19 kills.

“Addi had a huge game all-around and Everly did an outstanding job defensively,” Miller said. “We knew Hillman would be tough, and I feel the girls responded well. Defensively our accuracy improved, which was evident in our offensive efforts executing plays. We need to continue to work to control each touch to set each other up.”
