Alpena Council shouldn’t eliminate fluoride
A recent Letter to the Editor about fluoride is again an unfounded scare tactic that has been used before, many times in many cities. It’s dangerous, they say! That is true if you can figure out a way to drink too much of it. Chlorine is added to our water supply, it can also be dangerous if you drink too much of it. The city proportions just enough of these necessary chemicals to give us some of the best and safest water in the country. Our children, especially young children 0 to 8, receive the most benefit from fluoride in their early years. It has been a proven decay fighter and to consider going back to the good old days without it will give us another generation of adults with false teeth.
False teeth were very common years ago, but that gradually ended with the advent of fluoride. Council don’t consider doing such a disservice to our city and township by eliminating fluoride in our water.
