To my father, Paul Detloff:

It all began when I was brought into this world by my Mom and Daddy. Since it’s Father’s Day, I will dedicate this poem to him because…I have so many nice things to say! He is the best in every way! Growing up in Alpena with my sister and brother, Daddy was like no other.

During the years, after working years at LaLonde Shoe Store, all day, we would sit around the dinner table for us to meet and after the Lord’s Prayer, we would all scream “Let’s Eat!”

As the years grew, there was nothing my father couldn’t do. Being the Marshall of many Christmas Parades, creating downtown festivities, member of the Chamber of Commerce, Optimist Club, Shriner’s and Jaycee’s.

Because of all the money he raised, he should be proudly pleased! Daddy, before ending this poem with thoughtful love and ease. I will always love you more than the trees!

I love you, Daddy!
