I have enjoyed and depended on The Alpena News since I came to Alpena in 1950. It has always been a newspaper with a great variety of news and columnists covering many issues.

I have my own room called “the morgue” of 20 cardboard drawer files indexed and filled with many newspaper items of interest to me. A local newspaper such as The Alpena News is a source of hope for our future as a republic, with free speech provided by a free press. I believe that the years we are living in today are the most important I have experienced in my 90 plus years.

Thank you all for your effort in publishing a well-rounded small town/area newspaper. I recently subscribed to The Epoch Times weekly newspaper as a more in depth (AP free) companion newspaper to your daily Alpena News.
