Unpaid caregivers forgotten in COVID-19
The posted Michigan COVID-19 vaccine priority list makes no mention of unpaid caregivers.
These are the people, usually family members, who attend on a daily basis to the elderly and disabled.
We may have only one such person to provide assistance to but frequently we are that person’s only contact with the outside world and thus their main COVID-19 transmission risk.
It would seem an elderly or disabled person and their caregiver should be treated as a team under the vaccination priority list. There should be someplace in Phase 1 for the unpaid caregiver.
