Muszynski, Black, Ryhnard serve community

For 10 years I had the pleasure to work with three people who are running for local offices.

I was the victim advocate for the Alpena County Prosecutor’s Office during this time.

Cynthia Muszynski, Keith Edward Black, and Russ Rhynard all care about our community and wish to continue to serve the public.

These attorneys could choose to work in the private sector but instead have chosen the path of public service.

Cynthia has developed into a fierce litigator, fighting for victims and seeking justice while looking at the root of the problems that cause people to break the laws of Michigan. As prosecutor she continues to support the Child Advocacy Center and local Drug Court. Cynthia has been instrumental in putting many bad people behind bars for the safety of the community and victims.

Ed Black will work tirelessly as judge for Alpena and Montmorency counties to make sure people are treated with respect and compassion. I will never forget the time a young child who was victimized was in my office. Ed came in and sat cross-legged on the floor in his business suit and played with the child to try and alleviate her fears. In his short months as judge he worked with others to help develop the new PIVOT program for youthful offenders. This program will save Alpena County thousands of dollars in out-of-home placements and help the youth at the same time.

Last but not least, Russ Rhynard is running for a seat as an Alpena Township trustee. He will bring a wealth of knowledge to this board from all his years in private and public service.

All three candidates have many attributes that make them the choice for these positions and they will continue to serve our communities with respect and integrity.

NANCY SZEJBACH,

Alpena
