Alpena News is good, heres’ more good news

In addition to the good news of The Alpena News, I have in the past several months subscribed to an excellent weekly paper called THE EPOCH TIMES, which was established in 2000. It is a well-put-together news accounting of current issues with a balanced format.

On the front page of The Epoch Times this past week there was a good news article that caught my attention. It stated that every Wednesday at 7 a.m. some of our federal officials gather around a table in Washington to study the Bible. On some mornings it may include Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, and NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstein. Similar groups meet in 32 state capitals and 24 nations around the world. It is believed, as Christians do, that the Bible is the authoritative guide to daily living. It was good to see this kind of interest in God’s Word, the Bible, in a country like ours which has on its coins IN GOD WE TRUST.

As fellow Americans we too have opportunities to seek God’s wisdom in the Bible and share it with others. A good passage to remember is found in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “IF MY PEOPLE WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES, AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, I WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN, AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND HEAL THEIR LAND.”
