Alpena has changed greatly for the better

My family and I moved from Alpena in the early 1980s. At that time, the downtown area had a Penny’s store, Vaughn’s Department store, Country Cousins, Masters clothing store, Myers Furs, etc. and a cement plant that emitted horrible cement dust that coated everything that was outside.

This weekend, when I visited, the air was fresh and clean, and the downtown area now has wonderful, unique stores and art galleries for fun shopping.

Kudos to everyone that obviously worked very hard to accomplish this!
