Trump just wants to look like a hero

President Donald Trump’s proposed budget cuts for 2019 included a 90 percent cut for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. Trump had proposed drastic cuts for this program in his 2017 and 2018 budgets, but the program was saved by U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow. Trump and Bergman know these cuts will not happen this time, either. They put on a great show and think we Michiganders are really that easy to fool and maybe there are some.

Trump told the crowd in Grand Rapids that “I’m going to get, in honor of my friends, full funding for $300 million for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, which you’ve been trying to get for 30 years.”

President Barack Obama supported the funding of this program each year since it was proposed in 2010. Trump needs the votes of Michiganders to get reelected and it looks like he will try any trick in the book to do it.

Auto workers are losing jobs and farmers are dealing with crippling tariffs due to the trade wars. Those tax cuts to the rich went to buying back company stocks and did not go to the hard workers with increased pay. How many times do they have to do Trickle Down to prove it does not work?

Trump proposed cuts to Special Olympics in his budget, not Betsy DeVos. He threw her under the bus because of the backlash Trump’s budget cuts received. He wants to look like the hero again. He can only fool those who willfully want to be fooled. Trump is no hero!
