Choose to bask in the blessings

Senior Attitudes

I was sick for a few weeks. I really felt awful. I saw the grim reaper out of the corner of my eye. I felt so lousy I couldn’t bake or cook, so the reaper decided it wasn’t worth it to come in.

Since I had zero energy, I had time to reminisce and think. I think about how lucky I was to have a husband willing to put up with me.

I think about being told I could never carry a child. To prove them wrong, I had five.

They have all grown into adults that I’m proud of. Their children are the loves of my life. They are fun.

The Association of Lifelong Learners has been an opportunity for this widow to go places for fun and learning, by herself.

I live in an area of Northeast Michigan that I find good for the soul. I have met and been befriended by so many people. The beauty of our natural surrounding gives us all peace. It is a fine place to live. We have theaters, great restaurants, museums, art in our parks.

Can New York or San Francisco talk about seeing a newborn fawn at their window? I can.

I know I’m closer to the end than the beginning of my journey. Still, I’m going to enjoy the rest of the journey.

I’m begging all who are reading this to do the same. Life’s problems come and go. We must choose happiness. We always feel happy when we do something nice for another. Sooo, keep working on happiness.
