ACC a good school for good bargain

It pleased us but did not surprise us to read News staff writer Temi Fadayomi’s recent story showing more Northeast Michigan high school graduates go on to attend Alpena Community College than any other postsecondary school.

State data shows that 92 of 413 graduating Northeast Michiganders last year went on to ACC. No other school got that many Northeast Michigan kids, the state data shows.

We found that news unsurprising because we know that ACC offers a top-notch education for a low price.

For students who want to earn a four-year degree, ACC offers a great place to start, to get the first two years out of the way and then later transfer to a four-year institution. For students who want to move quickly into a career, ACC offers many programs that train students for many different careers and allows students to get right to work after graduating ACC.

For all students, ACC offers a good education at a good price, significantly more affordable than even state universities and, for many students, they can continue to live at home with their parents while they take ACC classes.

What a treasure we have in our back yard.

We are glad to see so many local students recognize and take advantage of that treasure.
