Virginia Kathleen Suszek

Virginia Kathleen Suszek, 87, of Alpena passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023, at MediLodge – Alpena. Virginia Kathleen Ciupka was born in Alpena County on July 29, 1935, to the late Joseph and Sophia (Tarzyski) Ciupka. On Sept. 26, 1952, she married Harry Srebnik. He preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1970. She later married Lloyd Suszek on Nov. 21, 1980. He also preceded her in death on May 8, 2000. She was a member of All Saints Parish. WILLIAM RUSSELL BATES

William Russell Bates, 84, of Alpena passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, at MediLodge of Alpena. Russ was born Aug. 1, 1938, in Chesaning, Michigan to the late Earl and Thelma (Detwiller) Bates. He served in the United States Army. Russ worked at the cement plant until his diving accident. He was a member of the Elks and enjoyed flying his airplane Cessna. Surviving are his brother, Charles (Peggy) Bates and several nieces and nephews. Russ was preceded in death by his sisters, Dixie Collins and Joyce Walker. Raymond Gerald Johnson, 90, of Alpena passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, at his home. Raymond was born in Alpena on Dec. 1, 1932, to the late Seth and Louise (Bethal) Johnson. He married Shirley Mae Stepanski on July 5, 1952. She preceded her in death on July 4, 2014. Ray enjoyed carpentry work, going to camp, hunting, and fishing. Ronald K. Abbe, 87, of Inverness, Florida, passed away on March 19, 2023. He was born in Hillman, Michigan on July 21, 1935 to the late Leon & Lillian (Nee Klein) Abbe. He has been a longtime resident of Inverness, Florida. He was Catholic by faith. Ron worked at the Abitibi-Price for 38 years. He retired in 1997. For many years, Cork and Ron were snowbirds.
