ROBERT RICHARD SANDERS

Robert was born on Feb. 20, 1927, in Flint, Michigan to the late Oscar and Rose Goheen Sanders. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and later retired from Buick Motors in 1979. On June 26, 1948, he married Verna Mae Baur, she preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2014. Robert then married Arleeta Lee Stevenson on March 25, 2017.

Surviving are his wife, Lee; three children, J.R. Sanders, Jill (Dennis) Wood, Cindy (Russell) Gardiner; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Shirley) Sanders; and Lee’s family: children, Barbara (Donald) DeVerna, Jerry (Sue) Stevenson; daughter-in-law, Peggy Stevenson; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Sanders; and Lee’s son, Dallas Stevenson.

Visitation will take place Sunday at Bannan Funeral Home in Hillman from 2-8 p.m. and continue there Monday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor Rich George. Military honors will follow by Hillman V.F.W. Post 2356.

Interment: Hillman Rust Township Cemetery
