FRED GRAMBAU

On Dec. 13, 2017, Fred Grambau passed away surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born in Detroit on Aug. 30, 1950. Fred grew up in the Northern Michigan town of Ossineke and graduated from Alpena High School in 1968 where he was an outstanding athlete. He earned a full athletic football scholarship to the University of Michigan where he went on to earn many honors and eventually went on to play professional football for a few years. He earned the nickname of “Papa Kool” from his Wolverine teammates who were very special to him. After leaving Michigan, Fred moved to Park City, Utah, and fell in love with the area while visiting the area during the football off season. He eventually made Park City his home alongside the love of his life, Cathy, where they went on to raise two daughters, Liz and Jessica.

Fred was known for his laid back attitude, his love of the outdoors (especially Moab), his enjoyment of life and constant dedication to his family. He was kind to everyone he met, and greatly loved and respected by all who knew him.

Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Luella Grambau. He is survived by his wife Cathy (Argus) Grambau, his two daughters Elizabeth Grambau and Jessica Grambau, his sister Dorie (Grambau) Creager (Charlie), as well as many loving members of his extended family.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. His family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this very sad time.

A GoFundMe account has been set up at www.gofundme.com/fred-grambau to help with significant medical expenses.
