Ripley Boulevard infrastructure work

ALPENA - Beginning today, contractors will be doing storm sewer infrastructure work on Ripley Boulevard, between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue. Both northbound lanes will be closed. Traffic will have lane shifts to keep from closing road down completely. Signage and barricades will be present to guide traffic around the lane closure, but motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. This work is expected to be completed in one day unless weather or construction delays occur.

Luther makes Dean’s List at NMU

ALPENA — Sylvie K Luther, of Alpena, made the Dean’s List at Northern Michigan University in Marquette for the 2026 winter semester. Luther posted an impressive grade-point average that was greater than, or equal to, 3.50. Luther is enrolled in the elementary education program at the university.
