AMA ESD distributes over $1M to local districts

The Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District (AMA ESD) Board of Education has approved the annual Special Education Payout to local districts, reimbursing costs incurred during the 2023 to 2024 school year, according to a Friday press release.

This year’s total payout amounts to $1,078,016, which includes a combination of Act 18 funds and revenue from the Special Education Millage, supporting a wide range of special education services across the region, including those provided by the AMA ESD and at facilities such as Pied Piper School.

Alpena Public Schools received $767,109, Alcona Community Schools received $95,571, Atlanta Community Schools received $36,825, and Hillman Community Schools received $178,511 from the payout.
