Property tax payment deadline is Friday
The due date for winter taxes in Alpena is Friday. Payments that are made are subject to a penalty.
In a press release on Tuesday, the city says payments can be placed in the drop box outside City Hall which will be retrieved by staff at 5 p.m. on Friday.
Any payment placed into the box after this time will be considered late and will be assessed a 3% penalty.
Payments can also be made online with a credit card or ACH and considered on-time until 11:59 p.m. on Friday.
Summer and winter taxes are due in full by Feb. 28 at 5 p.m.
Any winter taxes paid between Feb. 15-28 will be assessed a 3% penalty.
On March 1, all unpaid real property taxes will be turned over to the Alpena County Treasurer for collection.
