ALPENA — In a game that showcased the offensive prowess of the Alpena Wildcats, the team delivered a 13-0 victory against Bay City Central, ending the match at halftime due to the mercy rule.
This dominating performance was highlighted by Owen Kaiser, who set a new school record for the fastest goal scored in a game, netting a goal just 18 seconds after kickoff. The previous record, set in 2016, was 29 seconds.
Kaiser’s quick start was just the beginning of an offensive attack. Only minutes after his first goal, Kaiser struck again, bringing the score to 2-0. The Wildcats continued their aggressive play, and just five minutes later, Garrett Soltysiak added to the lead with a header, making it 3-0.
The goals kept coming as Lucas Thomson scored Alpena’s fourth goal, not even ten minutes into the game.
Kaiser secured his hat trick shortly after, showcasing his exceptional finishing ability.

“His finishing is very skilled,” Coach Gregg Supiran said. “He knows where to place the balls he’s given. The team did a great job finding our forwards and attacking players through the opponent’s backline.”
Jace Kadrich then scored, assisted by Reed Leeck, pushing the Wildcats to a commanding 6-0 lead. Not long after, Jack Supiran converted a penalty kick to make it 7-0. Kadrich found the net again, bringing the score to 8-0. Keller Skiba made it 9-0. Parker Kaiser added another goal, extending the lead to 10-0.
As the first half continued, the Wildcats showed no signs of slowing down. Supiran scored once more, followed by Keller Skiba, bringing the tally to 12-0. Joe Lacross closed out the scoring with a well-placed shot into an empty net after the goalie was caught out, sealing the game at 13-0.
Reflecting on the team’s offensive success, Coach Supiran attributed it to the speed of play.
“The speed of play is everything in soccer,” he said. “We played a lot quicker than our opponents today. Kudos to them; they hung in there and kept trying, but we were very quick off the ball and very quick with the ball today.”
Looking ahead, the Wildcats are focused on maintaining their momentum.
“We have our conference coming up with some tough teams, including the two Traverse City teams,” the coach noted. “It’s great to have this momentum, but we need to stay composed, be patient, and capitalize on our chances in those upcoming games.”
With this dominant victory, the Alpena Wildcats have sent a strong message to their future opponents, proving they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
The Wildcats travel to Traverse City West on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
