On Monday, firefighters from Alpena Township responded to a grass fire that spread and started a structure ablaze. Upon arrival, crews determined that garbage and a garage structure were burning. Crews quickly contained the garage fire with mutual aid assistance from the Alpena Fire Department, CRTC Fire Department, Maple Ridge Fire Department, Alpena County EMS, Michigan State Police, and Alpena County Sheriff’s Office. The origin of the fire was from a burning barrel that started the ground on fire.
